Central Savannah River Section

AACE International is dedicated to advancing the study of cost engineering, and cost management through the integrative process of total cost management. To promote this objective, AACE awards academic scholarships to full-time students pursuing a related degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, computer sciences, business, quantity surveying, information technology, etc. The cost engineering profession uses the process of total cost management to identify and define those areas of business in which the discipline of cost engineering and cost management principles may be applied to plan and control resources, assets, costs, profitability, and risk. The major elements of the cost engineering discipline include estimating, project/product controls, planning and scheduling, business sciences, and project/product management.

 

 

CENTRAL SAVANNAH RIVER CHAPTER AWARDS
THREE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Central Savannah River Section of AACEI was pleased to award three $500.00 college scholarships for the Fall of 2009. Scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities, and an essay on why cost engineering or total cost management will be important in pursuing their career goals. Congratulations to the following recipients:

Kristin Tempel (Clemson University).  Kristin is a rising senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering and plans on a career in cost improvement in the manufacturing industry.

Roger Hall (University of South Carolina Aiken).  Roger is a rising senior majoring in Accounting and taking courses that will also prepare him for a career in cost engineering in the construction or manufacturing industry.

Jason Hoffman (Georgia Institute of Technology).  Jason is a rising junior pursuing a degree in Polymer, Textile, and Fiber Engineering.  He is planning on a career at either a research facility or the research department of a manufacturing company.
